Einige Datev-Programme versenden E-Mails über in den Basisdiensten E-Mail hinterlegte Adressen und deren Benutzername/Passwort Authentifizierung.

Es wird sicherlich den einen oder anderen geben, der hier eine Exchange-Online-Adresse verwendet. Da ist jetzt (spätestens im Januar) Schluss mit der einfachen Benutzername/Passwort-Authentifizierung.

Ich konnte noch nichts bei Datev hierzu finden, ich gehe daher davon aus, dass der E-Mail-Versand dann nicht mehr funktionieren wird. Hat hier jemand mehr Informationen?

Das gilt für alle "legacy" Protokolle außer SMTP bzw. SMTP Auth.

We are not turning off SMTP AUTH. We have turned off SMTP AUTH for millions of tenants not using it, but if SMTP AUTH is enabled in your tenant, it’s because we see usage and so we won’t touch it. We do recommend you disable it at the tenant level and re-enable it only for those user accounts that still need it.

Generell wäre es aber natürlich wünschenswert, wenn die "SMTP Schnittstellen" der DATEV für Exchange online fit gemacht würden.

Alternativ wäre ohne SMTP Auth noch folgendes möglich: How to set up a multifunction device or application to send email using Microsoft 365 or Office 365 | Microsoft Learn

Oder eben auch ein anderweitiges (lokales) Relay der Mails.
